Course Description

1 day intensive preparation for the nMRCGP Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) examination

This 1 day intensive course covers the most important and frequently used topics that are relevant as a trainee GP. To be a good GP of tomorrow, you will simply need to know some facts and informations, eg DVLA guidelines, rules regarding sickness certificates. you will also need to know how a practice is generally managed, what issues do we need to think about on a regular basis as a GP for example QOF, Direct Enhanced Service and Locally Enhances Service etc. There are clinical issues that you also simply need to know as facts for example NICE guidelides that would and does dictate a lot of your clinical decisions.

This very rigorous course attempts to cover over 80 different subject areas that are relevant in the AKT. It covers Hot Topics for the AKT, Techniques and Timing, Statistics for the AKT, Medico Legal issues and Practice Management. There is more than that in the AKT that you will then have to learn but this course provides the guidance and material to do so.

The Mock Test at the end of the course gives you an idea on the exam. This followed by a discussion session for feedback and explanations.
